New direct import Italian wines for 2023

Trivoli Piemonte
This wine from Piedmont's Alto Monferrato area
possesses a surprising weight and real fortitude in the glass! High altitude vines,
artisanal yields, and calcareous, white tufo soils help lend this lip-smacking bubbly
its bold, balanced acidity, and 4-6 months on the lees add to both its personality
and elegance. 3,000 bottles made annually. For more info: Click Here

Jordanov Rkaciteli
A vibrant, thick-skinned, cool climate grape, Rkaciteli originally hails from the
Republic of Georgia. In the case of Jordanov, what we find most fascinating is the
ironic planting in one of Europe’s hottest, driest regions. The Baltic continental
front and Mediterranean front collide in Tikveš, North Macedona, creating a pocket
with virtually no rain. The result is a study in paradox: lush, fruit-filled weight
combined with a zinging finish that suggests 12% alcohol (vs. the official 14% listed
on the bottle). For more info: Click Here

Monte Tondo Corvina del veneto
This clean, unoaked red from Valpolicella positively sings with
soil-driven slate, bright pomegranate, and potpourri. Two-decade-old vines and
low-yield picking give it purpose, even at an affordable price. With its light body, it
is outstanding with all white meats. For more info: Click Here

Monte Tondo cassette foscarin
With fermentation as low as 14 degrees, and yields as low as 600g per plant, this is an
Italian white wine that delivers pinging clarity, extreme minerality, and rich, full-
bodied weight in spades! For more info: Click Here

Cala civetta sangiovese
The Sangiovese and Alicante blend provides a pleasing melange of tart, dried cherry
and liquid smoke, along with a faint chalkiness and a finish that is pleasingly dry
and briny. For more info: Click Here

Jordanov Vranec
The word itself translates as ‘Black Stallion’ owing to its forceful character and rich coloring. Here, Jordanov tames the wild beast, with low yields and 35-year old vines rounding out all the edges. Their lip-smacking rendition of this East European classic is farmed “high and dry”, in rich clay soils that support its vibrancy and overall bone structure. For more info: Click Here

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva
Aged in 50 hl Slavonian oak for 12 months, and an additional year in
steel, the wine exudes wonderful character from the 40 year-old vines. Grown in
the classic “tendone” (or tent) style, the plantings are pruned to produce about 2/3
of a bottle per plant. For more info: Click Here

Langhe Nebbiolo
Harvested at the end of October, this traditional-style Nebbiolo from Piedmont's
Langhe Hills offers up layers of dark cherry, cranberry, and earthy forest floor. The
grape's naturally bold tannins are tamed in this instance by older vines and
extremely low yields. For more info: Click Here

Morellino di Scansano
This Morellino bursts with ripe cherry, fresh cracked pepper, sage, and ocean brine. Its taut structure supports a long, slightly smoky finish; and it’s perfect with fish, tomatoes, even spicy chorizo. A great alternative to Chianti, it is a good value for such a serious wine.
